The Guinness World Records is known for incredible achievements that push the boundaries of human abilities and machines. However, time and again you’ll see stunts that are rather strange and oddly specific, which can sometimes question whether these things are done to really prove something, or just for entertainment. The recent one is one of those feats, and it needed the help of two Lexus NX SUVs to achieve that.

British tennis legends Jamie Murray and Laura Robson, together with Lexus, have set not one but two Guinness World Records: the “longest tennis rally on top of moving cars” and the “fastest speed during a tennis rally on moving cars.” Essentially shot for use in a TVC, a look behind the scenes (BTS) was published by Lexus on YouTube, which you can watch at the bottom of this article.

101 Consecutive Hits While Moving At 29 MPH

To set the record, Murray and Robson rallied 101 consecutive times while standing atop two moving Lexus NX. The aluminum platform, complete with grassy surface presumably to simulate a Wimbledon Championship match, was mounted on top of the luxury SUVs and secured via the roof rails. The tennis players were strapped on to the platforms for safety, making sure they wouldn’t fall off the roof.

The cars, meanwhile, were moving at 29 mph, which apparently was another record set. The stunt was planned and supervised by stunt coordinator Marc Cass, whose film credits include James Bond, Star Wars, and Harry Potter. Evidently, the stunt wasn’t completed at the first try, with multiple attempts shown on the BTS video. To be fair, rallying continuously isn’t easy (though we think it’s a piece of cake for seasoned players), more so if you do it on top of moving vehicles.

Lexus Is Proud Of This Achievement

Unsurprisingly, the stunt was performed to celebrate Lexus’ role as Platinum Partner and Official Automotive Partner of the ATP Tour and the LTA, as well as a Sky Tennis partner. The luxury automaker sponsors 12 ATP tournaments across Europe in 2025, including the ATP 1000 Rolex Paris Masters and the Nitto ATP Finals.

Lexus is pretty proud of this record, saying “Having our cars used in these Guinness World Records titles with two British tennis legends is a fantastic achievement to celebrate our partnership with Sky Tennis and our ongoing involvement in the sport. It’s been a fantastic tennis season so far, and the best is yet to come.”
